August is one of the best times to plan a family fishing vacation at Whitefish Lodge. Daytime temperatures are often in the mid-70s, the lake water is at its warmest, and both kids and adults enjoy fishing for walleye right from the dock. While the largest trophy fish are usually found farther out on Whitefish Lake, the dock can still provide plenty of eater-sized walleye for a classic Canadian shore lunch. Families can also bring bikes to ride along the 3-mile private road, explore the quiet lakeside setting, and enjoy one of August’s favorite Northern Ontario activities: blueberry picking. Wild blueberries are plentiful this time of year, perfect for morning pancakes and for taking home at the end of your stay. Pack a few containers and make your Whitefish Lake vacation even more memorable.
